Gamer's Stairwell Aficionado
Alright.
I once imagined that it would be cool if a game had a fully-built set of stairs in a tall building for a player to explore. Usually, stairs that aren't vital to the game's narrative are conveniently blocked off by debris, forcing the player to quell their adventurous tendencies and turn the fuck around.
But.
This stairwell is a completely fleshed-out structure inside of an 18-STORY BUILDING. But there are only two exits: one on the 1st floor, and one on the 18th floor.
You spawn into the game on the 17th floor so, naturally, the player is expected to climb one floor, walk out onto the roof, and parachute down to the ground.
Well.
The first time I spawned here I did not know where I was, and I failed to look at the floor numbers, thinking I was only a quick walk from the ground floor.
So.
I began the descent. And it just kept going.
And going.
And going.
And going...
I wondered if I had been sentenced to reside in purgatory for the rest of time. I thought, "This is it, Dan. You've done it now. Your obsession with stairwells has led to your eternal condemnation within one. You have only yourself to blame."
This stairwell gets 3 teammates revived from death who immediately run out to hug enemy gunfire like it's the second coming of Microsoft's Executive Vice President of Gaming Phil Spencer out of 5.
